The Scapegoat

Police in Nigeria are holding a goat handed to them by a vigilante group, which said it was a car thief who had used witchcraft to change shape.
A police spokesman in Kwara State has been quoted as saying that the "armed robbery suspect" would remain in custody until investigations were over.
But another police spokesman told the BBC the goat was being held in case its owner claimed it.
The belief in witchcraft and the power to change shapes is common in Nigeria.
Police reform activists have condemned the "arrest", saying it highlights the low education levels of many Nigerian police officers.
Nigeria's Vanguard newspaper has a picture of the goat and reports that police paraded it in front of journalists in the Kwara state capital Ilorin on Thursday.
But this was denied by national police spokesman Emmanuel Ojukwu.
"The vigilante group arrested the goat and took it to the police, then they told the media."
The next morning journalists turned up demanding to see the goat, he said.
"But of course goats can't commit crime."

No Lobster For You

AMSTERDAM - A hungry supermarket shopper claimed his lobster was bad, but deputies said it was all a shell game.

Walter U. Tessier, 57, of Division Street walked into the Price Chopper on Saturday with a lobster in hand saying he wanted to return it because ''it was bad,'' Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies said.

Grocers were about to allow Tessier to trade the $10.99 lobster for a $27 bag of king crab legs when they discovered the lobster was all shell. Tessier had eaten it and put the shell parts back together, deputies said.

When confronted, the man with a passion for seafood ran from the store with the bag of crab legs in hand, they said.

Deputies said they caught up with him at his home only to discover that he had already eaten the crab legs, too.

Tessier was charged with petit larceny and given an appearance ticket to return to court at a later date.

Dear Jane, Are you sure this drawing of a spider is the one I sent you? This spider only has seven legs and I do not feel I would have made such an elementary mistake when I drew it.

Regards, David.

Dear David, Yes it is the same drawing. I copied and pasted it from the email you sent me on the 8th. David your account is still overdue by the amount of $233.95. Please make this payment as soon as possible.

Hello, I am back and have read through your emails and accept that despite missing a leg, that drawing of a spider may indeed be the one I sent you. I realise with hindsight that it is possible you rejected the drawing of a spider due to this obvious limb ommission but did not point it out in an effort to avoid hurting my feelings. As such, I am sending you a revised drawing with the correct number of legs as full payment for any amount outstanding. I trust this will bring the matter to a conclusion.

Regards, David.

Dear David, As I have stated, we do not accept drawings in lei of money for accounts outstanding. We accept cheque, bank cheque, money order or cash. Please make a payment this week to avoid incurring any additional fees.

Yours sincerely, Jane Gilles

I understand and will definately make a payment this week if I remember. As you have not accepted my second drawing as payment, please return the drawing to me as soon as possible. It was silly of me to assume I could provide you with something of completely no value whatsoever, waste your time and then attach such a large amount to it.

Regards, David.

43 things

Most people give up on new years resolutions after only a few weeks. We forget. we get busy doing other things. We have no support.

Well I found a cool site called http://www.43things.com. On the site users post lists of their goals and dreams and other users support them and cheer them on. What a great idea for a site.

If you are like me and have trouble keeping your goals (much less remembering them), I recommend checking it out.

The Death Of Saturday Mornings

I remember very clearly waking up at 6 am every saturday morning as a young child. That was when the really good cartoons were on. The earlybird line up was Robocop, Dinoriders, Spiderman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Then the rest of the morning would continue with My Pet Monster, Muppet Babies, Ewoks, Droids, Smurfs, Pound Puppies, the Real Ghostbusters, Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour. The list goes on and on. Though the line up changed through the years, I was right there getting up every Saturday morning to enjoy the cartoony goodness.

Fast Forward to last month when the plug was pulled on Fox Kids. Their Saturday morning lineup was a smash hit in the 90's with hits like Eek the Cat, X-Men, Bobby's World, Spider-Man, The Tick, Batman the Animated Series, Animaniacs, Power Rangers, and Tiny Toons just to name a few. But now they are gone, only to be replaced with gardening shows and the local news. That leaves two saturday morning lineups: Nbc and the CW. How long will those 2 last? The prospects are not good.

Why did this change happen? Cable TV. Why would any kid get up at 6 am on a saturday morning these days? They can watch a cartoon any second of the day thanks to 24 hour cartoon networks. Networks like Cartoon Network, Sprout, Boomerang, Nick Toons, Toon Disney. The list goes on and on. There is no reason for a kid to get up on saturday mornings. None. We've gotten quite spoiled. When I was child you were lucky to find any cartoon on tv after 5 pm (8 pm if you counted Nickelodeon).

Spectacular Spider-Man recently made the jump from Kids WB to Toon Disney. More shows are sure to follow. Enjoy Saturday Morning Toons while they last. Kids are about to lose something really special and they don't even know it.

Its been a long time since we've had a decent Ninja Turtle game. Will the streak of bad games finally be broken?

I live again for the third time

And were back.

Sorry for taking the month off but having no internet access makes updating the blog really difficult. I haven't been online or watched the news in the past month so I have no clue what's going on. It was kind of nice taking a break from everything but now its time to get going again.

Expect some really cool stuff this month including the much delayed BrothersGottaBlog.
