best news story ever?

PROVIDENCE — Animal-control officers, called to a house on Phebe Street Wednesday afternoon for a report of pet hoarding, witnessed a waterfall of dachshunds and Chihuahuas come spilling down the stairs from the second floor.

About 50 dogs, all but 3 of them of small breeds, were living in the single-family house at 77 Phebe St., said Jennifer Siakotos, a veterinary technician with the Providence Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Siakotos said all the dogs seemed to be in good shape and the house was relatively clean. But an ordinance does limit to three the number of adult dogs someone can have in the city.

Animal control officials from Pawtucket, East Providence and Providence took temporary custody of the animals until their care was further investigated, said Joseph Warzychi, an investigator for the SPCA.

The dogs were being cared for by a woman in her 40s who was living in the house and who began crying when the animal control officers arrived, said Siakotos.

Siakotos said the animal-control officers were standing in the living room when one of them asked the woman of the house if she had other dogs in the house. The woman told the animal control officers to close the door leading outside and then went upstairs and opened a door, effectively releasing the flood gate.

Siakotos said a flood of dogs came rushing down the stairs but none barked.

Pac-Man the tv series

Spinoff is reporting that executive adviser for Namco Bandai Avi Arad wants to give Pac-Man his own brand new 3-D television series about hunting ghosts and exploring social topics of the 21st century.

“We wanted to keep Pac-Man the same lovable guy he has always been, but [put him] in the 21st century. … We [also] wanted to talk about real stories and … see how they can relate to our lives, being in high school and being a teenager. At the end of the day, it’s the story of a reluctant hero. …

“We feel we have a unique opportunity to have an action adventure, human interest story. … As a filmmaker, it’s a unique opportunity to get to know the characters you play. … We don’t know what happened to Pac-Man’s parents. He’s the only yellow one in Pac-Land; what does that mean? Is it a social statement? We’ll find out.”

The story would center on the fact that ghosts are trying to overtake Pac-Man’s world, and only Pac-Man — a high school student — can stop them, thanks to the assistance of four friendly ghosts. Studios have not been approached about the idea yet, as Arad and Namco want the 3-D to be done correctly before showing it to potential TV partners.

This new pacman show sounds like Secret Life of the American Teenager... maybe he should just become a new character on there.

I can see the scene...

dad: I demand to know! Who is the father of your baby!

daughter: Well its...

(Pacman walks in)

mom: I thought you were on the pill

daughter: He ate all the pills!

Mortal Reboot

The Mortal Kombat movie franchise has been dead for quite awhile now. The first movie was actually pretty good but the second was dreadful. Now a reboot seems to be in the works. Its darker and gorier but is it a step in the wrong direction?

Lost Thoughts: The ultimate theory

The ultimate LOST theory:

You had a caretaker on the island (may have been Adam or Job or someone we've never heard of) and you had the smoke monster(aka the Devil/evil) on the island. Esau forgives Jacob... they become friends again as in the bible and arrive on the island. The smoke monster tricks Esau into going down the dark path and killing the caretaker, he does.

So we get skeleton #1 with the white stone... Jacob becomes the new caretaker and has to kill his brother Esau to keep the evil on the island... so we get skeleton #2 with the black stone.

Now the smoke monster/devil is taking Esau's form... notice Jacob never calls him Esau because he is no longer his brother. If the balance of good vs evil should ever tip to evil the smoke monster would be unleashed on the world.

So what's the deal with the flashsideways/alternate timeline. Well this is a world where the evil escaped the island. Things are about to get very, very bad.

Lost Thoughts: The Smoke Monster

"Please to meet you can you guess my name?"

As Lost speeds to a conclusion, the biggest question is just who is the Smoke Monster?

Well here are my best guesses:

1. Esau - The most obvious guess. Esau was betrayed by his brother Jacob and his mom in the Bible and vowed revenge. He was cheated out of his birthright (the island?). But how can he turn into a pillar of smoke or turn into dead people?

2. The Plague of the first born - Moses set many plagues against Egypt to free Jacob's people. The last was a plague to kill all the first born children. It would explain all the pregnancy issues on the island and why he can't kill Jacob (he wasn't a first born)

3. He really is the devil - He is always tempting people just like he did to Job. He is a manipulator. But how do you explain his mom issues or him saying he was once human. Maybe he is drawing from Locke's memories? Locke's mom was crazy.

In the Stephen King novels there is a recurring character that goes by many names (like Flagg in the Stand) but mostly goes by the Man in Black. He is the devil incarnate. The Lost writers are big Stephen King fans. Just saying.

4. He's some type of greek god like Hades or Cerebus. There's lots of Egyptian symbols on the island.

These are all off the top of my head. I'll think about it some more and maybe have a better answer next week.

Up

I finally got around to seeing Up. Its not the best pixar movie but its pretty darn good. Here's how I would rank it:

Masterpieces
Wall-E
Ratatouille
Up

Amazing
Finding Nemo
Monsters Inc
Toy Story 2
Toy Story

Great
Incredibles
Cars
Bug's Life

Sisko is Greater: I, Borg

Welcome to Sisko is Greater... a series where we put on our geek glasses and see what would have happened if Sisko was the Captain of the Enterprise instead of Picard.

This week's episode: I, Borg

Sisko would have implanted Hugh with the paradoxical mathematical construct.

Result: Sisko > Picard

Dead I Am Not

Between moving, putting my house up for sell, a newborn niece in the hospital, LOST, massive snowstorms and the usual stuff, updating the blog has been the last thing on my mind.

I stumbled across a really cool site that I just had to share though.

http://www.kickstarter.com/
Its a website designed to help creative entrepreneurs (like me) to raise funds for their projects. I know I've said a lot about brothers gotta blog and stuff but side projects are afoot and you'll be hearing a lot more about them in the coming months.

The Al Cave Season Three starts now

Its a new year so its a new season on the Al Cave.

Here's some of the ideas I'm kicking around.

A new look: I might redesign the blog. I'm still debating. I was messing around with it last week and ended up losing half of my settings... whoops.

Updates: The plan for updates is monday through friday. No more time traveling posts, if I miss a day, I miss a day.

Unfinished content: I'll be reposting One Piece Week and the MST3K Turkey Day countdown in the coming weeks.

A new Focus: I'll still post funny stuff and comment on the news, but there will be a new focus on my side projects. Brothers Gotta Blog, I'm looking at you.

Well that's all for now.
