possible TMNT Smash Up fighters
TMNT Smash Up for the wii will be here in September. Today we take a look at some possible candidates for playable characters:
Fugitoid - Chances: HIGH

Fugitoid is a fugitive robot on the run from the Triceratons and others. He's appeared in the original comics, the 2003 cartoon, and had a few toys made. IGN has hinted that he's in the game so don't be suprised if he makes an appearance.
Baxter Stockman - Chances: HIGH

Shredder's head scientist and inventor of the mousers is one of the oldest TMNT characters. Over the years he's taken many forms from brain in a jar to mutant fly. He's appeared in the Mirage comics, the 1987 toon, the 2003 toon, and has had several toys. I'd be suprised if he doesn't make the cut. Just don't expect his fly form from the 1987 toon.
Karai - Chances: HIGH

Shredder's adopted daughter wore the Shredder armor after Shredder's demise. She's appeared in the 2003 toon, the TMNT movie, has an action figure and the mirage comics. She'll probably make the cut.
Hun - Chances: GOOD

Hun is the leader of the Purple Dragons. He's appeared in the 2003 toon and has an action figure. Not the most popular character but I could see him making an appearance.
Triceraton - Chances: GOOD

If there's a Fugitoid, then you need a Triceraton to chase after him. The Triceratons have appeared in the mirage comics, the 1987 toon, the 2003 toon, the fast forward toon, and have had several action figures. They're probably in.
Leatherhead - Chances: GOOD

Leatherhead is a mutant aligator scientist created by the Utroms by accident. He's been both a villain and an ally to the turtles. He's appeared in the mirage comics, the archie comics, the 1987 toon, the 2003 toon, and had several action figures. Yeah he's probably in the game.
Rat King - Chances: GOOD

The mysterious Rat King lives in the sewers and has an army of rats. He's appeared in the mirage comics, the archie comics, the 1987 toon, the 2003 toon, and had several action figures. He's a good candidate for the game.
Agent Bishop - Chances: GOOD

Agent Bishop is a mysterious government official who has been around for several hundred years and has a special interest in the turtles. He has appeared in the 2003 toon and the Fast Forward Series. The game seems to be based on the 2003 designs so I wouldn't be suprised if Agent Bishop makes an appearance.
Usagi Yojimbo - Chances: OKAY

Usagi Yojimbo is a rabbit samurai from another world. Usagi has appeared in the original comic series, the 1987 toon as well as the 2003 toon. He's had a few action figures as well. The problem is he's owned by Stan Sakai. Its possible that he'll be playable but there are legal hurdles to jump through.
Mondo Gecko - Chances: SLIM

Mondo Gecko is a skateboarding, rock music singing, Gecko. He's appeared in the 1987 toon, the TMNT archie's comic, the Mutanimals Archie comic and has had a few action figures. Next to Leatherhead he's probably the most popular Mutanimal. Like his fellow mutanimals, Mondo has been out of the spotlight for a long time.
The other Mutanimals - Chances: SLIM

The rest of the Mutanimal crew is Wingnut, Screwloose, Dreadmon, Jagwar, and Ray Fillet. Dreadmon and Jagwar were only seen in the archie comics but the others have had cartoon and toy line appearances. We haven't seen these characters in a long time but they are due to get a new comic miniseries so who knows.
Bebop and Rocksteady - Chances: SLIM

Shredder's 2 lovable flunkies have appeared in most of the 1987 cartoon episodes, have had several action figures, appeared in the Archie Comics, and have appeared in several video games. So why are their chances slim? Peter Laird, co-creator of the turtles, has stated on his blog that he is tired of the characters and that they were over-exposed on the 1987 toon. Peter is directly involved with the game so chances are slim. The duo is set to appear in a special cartoon movie this fall so you never know...
Slash - Chances: SLIM

The popular evil turtle from dimension X hasn't been seen in some time. He appeared in the Archie comics and the 1987 toon. He's had an action figure. The fan's love him but he's been MIA for a looooong time. Not a good sign.
Zach the 5th Turtle Chances - none

Zach was a kid who wanted to be a ninja turtle and that's about it. Just go away Zach.
Well there's my list of guesses. We might get two more characters or 20... who knows. If we get most of these guys, I'll be a happy camper.

2 more fighters for TMNT: Smash UP
The roster for the upcoming smash bros inspired TMNT Smash UP just got bigger. Hidden character spoilers ahead:
Leonardo
Donatello
Michelangelo
Raphael
Splinter
April
Shredder
Foot Soldier
Casey Jones
Utrominator
Raving Rabbid
Splinter Cell Rabbid
Wait, wha?

WAAAAAAAHHHHH!
Not sure how I feel about the rabbids being in the game. I would love playing as them but I hope that we get more TMNT characters. On the other hand fighting the Shredder with a rabbid could be a blast. I wonder if he'll have a hotdog for a weapon.
Tomorrow I'll list my guess for the remaining characters.

TMNT Reboot
HOLLYWOOD -- The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are making their way back to the bigscreen.
The Mirage Group, which owns the property, is moving forward with a live-action film focusing on the origins of the iconic crime fighters. Project, targeted for release in 2011, would mark the fifth bigscreen outing for the sewer-dwelling heroes Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael as well as their master Splinter.
News coincides with the Turtles' 25th anniversary celebration, which kicks off Thursday in New York as the first "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" film unspools at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Legendary Pictures former chief marketing officer Scott Mednick is producing the new pic alongside Galen Walker, who produced the 2007 computer-animated "TMNT" pic, the most recent installment in the franchise. Peter Laird, Gary Richardson, Frederick Fierst, Eric Crown and Napoleon Smith III are exec producing the film, which is based on the characters created by Laird and Kevin Eastman.
The characters first appeared in a May 1984 comicbook before spawning a lucrative line of toys, cartoons and three films released in the early 1990s. In 2003, the Turtles were reintroduced to a new generation via a TV series, the "TMNT" film and a revamped merchandising program.
The latest project is being financed by Lightbox Prods.
"The original dozen comics created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman are some of the best source material one could hope for," said Mednick, whose exec producing credits include the upcoming "Where the Wild Things Are." Laird, who bought out Eastman's share of the property several years ago, said the film will remain true to the spirit of the original comicbooks. He added that the pic may employ face replacement technology, which would allow the turtles to be much more expressive.
Today's 25th anniversary "Shell-ebration" will also include lighting the Empire State Building in "turtle green."

Happily ever after
The event 25 years in the making has finally happened.

April O'Neal and Casey Jones were wed last Saturday. It was a real tear jerker... okay so the Shredder attacked and ruined the ceremony... like you didn't see that coming.
Everyone was there and I do mean everyone... even the Rat King.
Good times.
Congrats you imaginary people you.

And the Christmas List grows shorter...
The Mystery Science Theater 3000 20th anniversary set came out today and its already sold out in most stores. They will be releasing a standard version but it will be missing many of the extras (tin box, crow figurine, lobby cards) on November 18th.
Also there is still no release date on the Shredder figure set so I guess I'll be removing those from my list as well.
In related news the final(?) Futurama movie, "Into the Wild Green Yonder", will be released on dvd on February 24th.

al is greedy and will steal your stuff
Christmas is just around the corner so this is a good as time as any to post my christmas list. My list may seem a bit much but I usually don't buy a whole lot of stuff during the year. I really try and rack up at Christmas time.
G.I. Joe Vs. The Transformers Omnibus: Volumes 1 - 4 (Hardcover)

I'm a sucker for GI Joe and Transformer's stories. I've been a fan since I was a child, so this is right up my alley. This volume collects the 4 crossover stories by Devil's Due. The four stories are set in an alternate reality. The stories range from the rise of Serpentor to a Cobra La cult that worships Unicron. Fun stuff.
Futurama: Beast with a Billion Backs DVD

Poor Futurama, cancelled before its time. Thankfully it lives on in direct to dvd movies. This is the second of the four DTD movies. The movie has gotten less than favorable reviews but I'm willing to give it a chance. I really enjoyed Bender's Big Score.
Futurama: Bender's Game DVD

The Third Futurama movie takes on roleplaying games and the Lord of the Ring's genre. Looks like lots of fun. Can't wait.
NECA Shredder Figure Set

Whoa check out that sweet Shredder. I stopped collecting figures years ago but this one is just too awesome. Included in the set is an Utrom (Krang) and two foot soldiers. And if you get the Shredder set then you have to get....
NECA TMNT Figures

Another great looking set based on the Turtles looks from the original comics. Very nice.
MST3K 20th anniversary DVD Set

I still remember the first day I discovered Mystery Science Theater. I was doubled over in laughter. My dad thought it was the stupidest thing he had ever seen. He still feels that way to this day. Its been ten years since the show ended and I'm happy to see its as popular as ever.
One Piece Second and Third Voyage

One Piece is the greatest anime/manga ever. Say it with me.
It with me.
Very Funny. One Piece tells the story of Luffy who wants to be king of the pirates. He's on a quest to find the late Captain Gold Rogers treasure. Along the way he gathers a crew of unique characters with their own dreams. A fine series that was utterly ruined when it was edited for american audiences.
Well this is the Unedited and redubbed version and it is sweet. Great, great series. You owe it to yourself to check it out.
Well there's mine, feel free to post yours.
